World of Bridgerton, Manjit Thapp, Laurence King
Wow, this was so fun. Like a collage puzzle, with many discrete elements, but in a scene. Also, very interesting for the perspective — since it’s a three-dimensional room using classical perspective, there were ways to assemble the architectural elements based on size, angle, etc. This was my first Laurence King (that I remember) and […]

I Moose Be Dreaming, StandOut Puzzles
I loved this artwork & grabbed his “StandOut Puzzles” (their website is down but their instagram is live) 750-piece puzzle, “I Moose Be Dreaming“, with art by Erin Brekke Conn …. and man it was hard. The entire painting is pointillism! With that difficulty, the seven extra pieces that they threw in — that appear […]

Banned Books, Re-Marks Puzzle
In keeping with Banned Books Week (which in 2024 is this week, Sept. 23 – 27), my department finished the Banned Books puzzle from Re-Marks. Puzzle quality was fine, but I was disheartened to see a missing piece! Casualty of the work environment? or a manufacturing error? sigh.

Ravensburger Fiesta Time
Ash and I did a 500-piece Ravensburger “Fiesta Time“, which we learned about from the 2024 US speed puzzling. No guacamole, sadly!

Alala Love, New York Puzzle Company
While on a wooden jigsaw kick, I haven’t been doing my backlog of cardboard puzzles …. so I did one that I’ve been wanting to do for a while — “ʻAlalā Love”, a 500-piece puzzle illustrated by Caren Loebel-Fried, from the New York Puzzle Company‘s “Cornell Lab of Ornithology” series. It doesn’t look like the […]

Massachusetts, Galison
Ash and Michele did this one the other day.

Exploding Kittens, Great Wave off Catagawa
Ash worked on this one ….

eeboo Mushroom Rainbow
A really beautiful “Mushroom Rainbow” puzzle from eeBoo, 1000 pieces. With labels! Illustration by Kelsey Oseid. Yael Fuerst loaned this one to us. eeBoo: Shiitake, Red Amanita, Oyster… These are but a handful of fascinating fungi you’ll find as you piece together this Mushroom Rainbow 1000 Piece Puzzle, illustrated by Kelsey Oseid. If the challenge […]

Stateside Vacay, Amber Day
Ash did this fun US map puzzle – art by Amber Day, “Stateside Vacay”. Notice the puzzler’s socks and the toe pointing to a missing piece.

tacos
Ash knocked off this 300-piecer of tacos … yum. (Google identifies this as a puzzle named “Foodie” from Goliath.)

Firefly Party eeboo mini
eeboo mini “Firefly Party“, Ash and Michele.

Elephantaisy by André Sanchez (Heye 1000)
“Elephantaisy” by André Sanchez, part of the “Fauna Fantasies” series from Heye. This one was steady puzzling, lots of patterns. I ended up slogging through about 75 pieces of leaves at the bottom left of the image, which was probably the most tedious part. Otherwise I had a good time!

Ravensburger “The Reading Room”
A “cozy crowded space” with books kind of puzzle. Satisfyingly cozy. “Ravensburger No. 80 104” — Copyright Eduard, Artist, licensed by MGL. I liked this description: Historically, Reading Rooms were often found in towns and villages and were places where residents could read books and periodicals of the day. The British Museum boasts one of […]

Nancy Drew (Cobble Hill 1000)
I really enjoyed this collage of Nancy Drew book covers. Very relaxing!

Art Cafe by Otar Imerlishvili (Art & Fable 1000)
I really enjoyed this one! Beautiful, fun art, steady assembling. Lots of different patterns, and a fair amount of repetition of the patterns, with slight variants, in different parts of the puzzle. The green horn was what I ended on, and there were a lot of different shades of green to work through. (And of […]

Ravensburger West Coast Tranquility
Every bit as soothing as I had thought it would be. Ah the rocks and the water and the stillness.

Brian’s Worst Nightmare
A little 150-piece micro puzzle about cats that Michele and Ash knocked off Friday 9/15. MicroPuzzles.com, “Brian’s Worst Nightmare.”
