Robert Burns’ The Hunt from Liberty

Hoefnagel sent me an amazing pack, with this puzzle from Liberty, and “Happily Ever Aftering” from Elms. This puzzle features “Diana and Her Nymphs” by Robert Burns (the painter, 1869-1941, not the poet of the same name, 1759-1796). “Diana and Her Nymphs” is a circa 1926 mural painted at the Crawford’s tearoom in Edinburgh.

Lots of beautiful whimsies, characteristic of Liberty. Particularly adorable animals — skunk & squirrel & moose for instance. Definitely kind of a challenging puzzle — a busy image, not an extremely color-diverse image. The orange at the bottom was very similar to or identical with orange in a few other places, for instance. Skin tones … the cheetahs or jaguars or whatever had different patterns, but they were often broken up … anyway, it wasn’t an EASY puzzle, but it was really enjoyable! Sadly, I did not get a picture of the back — I was going to flip it, but I was clumsy & a large part fell apart, and since it was so challenging I did not re-assemble ….

For a while, I thought I had lost a piece, near the bottom right corner … but actually I had seen that piece & put it in a little baggy because it was broken … and I completely forgot I had done that, so for several days I hunted fruitlessly on the floor & amongst couch cushions & what-not … until I decided to shake the box one last time, and voilá! there was more sound than mere paper. Puzzle solved! Pieces not lost!
