Really fun map puzzle – greatly enjoyed the border cut (the fleur-de-lis on the four corners, and the variable patterned border on the sides). I also liked the generally swirly nature of the pieces. Not a lot of whimsies, but I enjoyed the two-piece Toulouse-Lautrec style cat — I was puzzled by the bottom part of the piece, which seemed cat-like enough to not need a top half, but then when I saw the top half and assembled into a “Chat Noir”, I was so pleased. And, I don’t know if this was intentional, but all the little houses and roads give it a tabby look which is delightful.
As usual with map puzzles I get pretty fatigued on the sections without a lot of interesting detail. But the heart of the puzzle — with all the Parisian landmarks — gave me enough pleasant memories and nostalgia that I was able to stick it out through the chunks of undifferentiated blocks ….
I assembled the Bois de Bologne (the large green park on the left) first, then the other small parks, then snaked the Seine, then started filling in the labeled landmarks …. then it was a hard slog through roads, undifferentiated chunks of roads, and the border edges (which turned out pretty fun).
Another contender for favorite puzzles of 2024.
