Wow, this puzzle really blew me away. Terra Rodgers’ displayed extraordinary artistry and craft in matching the layered pieces to the curved room — creating curved plywood! Add to that complexity the color-line cutting and attention to detail in assembling groups of pieces, over and beyond the color line cutting, and the beautiful shapes of the pieces.
The puzzling was excellent — it wasn’t “tricky” with false fits or whatever, but it was very thoughtfully cut, with a few surprising “ah” moments, and it definitely demanded careful attention, while not inspiring cursing. I did the smaller size available (300+ pieces, about 7″x13″); she also can cut the puzzle into a larger, 700+ piece size.
I got this puzzle from Hoefnagle — and thank goodness, because without Hoefnagle I never, ever would have dipped my toe (and wallet) into hand-carved puzzles. And now, this puzzle is going on my to-gift list ….

No tags for this post. This image is based on W.H. Walker’s illustration of Alice falling down the rabbit hole. The puzzle is comprised of layers, most of which are formed to give the appearance of a rounded hole. Alice spins above them. This is available in 2 sizes. The photos are from the smaller size which was 333 medium sized pieces when I cut it. The larger size would be closer to 700 pieces. The number of pieces will vary greatly, of course. It contains several Alice in Wonderland themed figure pieces unless you prefer something different. Please note that this puzzle is made to order and wait time is often about 6 weeks.
