This is Renoir‘s 1886 “Garden Scene in Brittany“, from “Silverton”, a vintage (said to be hand-cut but probably not) puzzle company, via Hoefnagel‘s wood puzzle rental club. The original is in Philly, at the Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia, PA — not a museum I was previously familiar with. Hoefnagel’s description is brief:
Around 300 pieces, hand-cut.* This is a vintage puzzle by an old British brand.
* update 2025/06/29 – reading Rebecca Tushnet’s blog, she did a Silverton and said it’s laser-cut, and I’d agree that the edges do look quite sharp and regular, with a lot of finicky detail, a la lasercut … She also cites Jigasaurus, which describes Silverton as lasercut. Hoefnagel said hand-cut, but their descriptions are often based on seller’s descriptions, so I’m going to go with Rebecca here!
