“Sky Village” by Heather Gauthier, Ecru, 409 pieces.
This is the second of a batch of three puzzles I borrowed from Yael. It was a steady, not difficult, solve, with lots of different areas of variously colored fruits, various textures on the animals, beads & ribbons, all on a damask-style background. (Looking at Gauthier’s website, I see that in other paintings too — the formal background both makes the front images pop, and gives them a bit of a surreal flavor. The effect puts me in mind of the 3d lenticular picture books from the 1970s.)
The cut by Tara Flannery was so interesting — a formal centered arrangement, with some curvy but formal elements (a ring of alternating fleur-de-lis and hearts with wings), and a bunch of whimsies. (Look at the Pegasus! And the cat on the crescent moon!) I didn’t take a picture of the individual whimsies, which would have been hard to do anyway, since there were so many whimsy shapes.
A 409 piece wooden jigsaw puzzle of the lush Sky Village painting by Heather Gauthier. This is from our Ecru line, so the image is matte, and the puzzle is extra beautiful. The puzzle is average hard with a straight edge, irregular piece shapes, leaf and knob connectors, and decorative whimsies. Puzzle design by Tara Flannery. … 12″x16″
