Living Room

Original oak flooring, with warm paneling along two walls, open to the kitchen / dining area. A large feature concrete fireplace, with an original cantilevered steel hearth. The fireplace is set off by a tall standing cube-shaped tower, with a flower pot or sculpture stand on the top. Ceiling is textured swirls. Two narrow glass windows, ceiling-height, one on either side of the wood paneled north wall. A built-in low seat / cabinet nook in the corner.

Light fixture has a brass & glass style & is centered in front of the fireplace; not sure if this is original or later?

MODIFICATIONS:

  • Modified slightly in the 1960s, to shift one of the narrow windows to a doorway to the new bedroom wing.
  • Modified again in the 1980s, to add swinging glass French doors to the new sunroom. (These doors were modified in 2021 to have round modern knobs, brown, sustainably made from paper, instead of the brassy 1980s style doorknobs.)
  • 2025 January – plaster around chimney repaired from leaks several years ago (Jay Watson’s group). Sealed the interior well of the chimney wall display area.
