The back bedroom was original to the house. In 1968, when two additional bedrooms and a hallway were added, it was reconfigured. The original door — at the end of the hallway — was left, but instead of opening directly into the bedroom, it opened into a corner of another hallway, with another door into the bedroom. We think there were probably original redwood closets along that wall, based on small marks on the floor, which were removed; a new closet was added. We believe that the original room probably looked out onto a private deck. The clerestory windows are original to the house, but the window looking northward & the closet were added in 1960s.
This room was apparently being used as an office, after having been used as a child’s bedroom in the 1960s and 1970s.
2012 – When we moved in, the walls were covered with cork, which we removed. We opened up the small wall between the back bedroom and the back bathroom to be left open as a doorway, and added a barn door later. Also opened up a doorway between bedroom and middle bedroom, which we used as a master suite / dressing room.
2025 – Added access panel to the water mixing of the pink bathroom.
