renovations 2012

back bedroom wing – removing carpeting & wood paneling from the three back bedrooms, and the hallway; removing the built-in desks, made up wood siding that was unfortunately not in great shape. Adding hardwood floors; drywall walls. Paint. Adding one additional window to back bedroom. Retaining door into decorative living room corner wood box. Molding added (wrong molding). Wood molding between bathroom and bedroom painted (mistake). OPENING between back bedroom and back bathroom left open as open doorway. Doorway opened between back and middle bedroom, but was not framed correctly, and left as an open walkway.

back bathroom – removing cabinet & sink; moving toilet from outer wall to inner wall. Removing an interior folding louvered door. Removing carpet. Adding tile; a heated bathroom floor. Sink intended to be temporary, + square mirror. Building a privacy wall for a semi-“water closet” effect for the hanging toilet. Old hanging toilet switched to a new water-saving toto hanging toilet. Replacing ceiling fan. Adding additional overhead lighting. Control panel for heated floor unit was placed into wall, but molding not fixed. Toto wall-hung toilet was installed, but power was not installed for the bidet seat.

front “pink” bathroom – Windows which were previously exterior windows had shutter. Removing shutter, and replacing broken glass windows with translucent glass, to enable light to filter from the back bathroom (which has some natural light) to the pink bathroom (which is entirely entire, with no natural light). Replacing the ceiling fan. Access door to tub in bedroom was closed. (Mistake!)

kitchen – New dispose-all in sink. New dishwasher.

hardwood floors – Water-based polyurethane polish.

laundry / back hallway – Removing carpeting & adding hardwood floors. New lighting. Closet + lighting. Laundry room – retaining small closet for ironing board.

electrical – Replacing 2-prong with grounded outlets throughout the house. Replacing outlets with GFCI where needed for safety. (Note: Missed a few; fixed in 2022.)

Most work done by Handyman Hank, who had been caretaker of the house while it was owned by the Rauches.
