June 1 — Super excited to see that the goat’s beard (Aruncus dioicus) on Ash Hill is going to bloom this year! (photos 1 & 2)
3: The Sedum ternatum (stone crop) is blooming.
Below that, green-and-gold and strawberries are still going strong (5 & 6), as is Eastern star sedge (Carex radiata), photo 7. Photos 8 & 9 are progress of raspberries & peaches, and 10 is the mountain laurel coming!
Excitingly, 11 and 12 show Baptisia australis, blue false indigo. I have been trying to get this to take off and am thrilled to see it about to bloom!













Last but not least, the spiral meditation path (complete with dog) is looking very sweet.
June 2:
Photo 1 — the hill under Ash’s room, concealing our bomb shelter. Very bloomy! Photo 3 — Mountain laurels are popping!
Photo 4 — Dogwood is going to make beautiful berries this fall!
Photo 7 & 8 — Horn-shaped galls on the witch hazel!
Photo 10 – the Baptisia australis (false blue indigo) is going to bloom!












June 4 – the Baptisia australis is blooming! I’m so excited.


June 5 –
Photo 1 – The green-and-gold is still blooming.
Photo 3, squirrels love to picnic on the stonework.
Photo 4 – Erigeron philadelphicus (Philadelphia fleabane)
Photo 5 – Astilbe (non-native)
Photo 6 – the raven is chipping …
Photo 9 – Flowering raspberry is flowering! and has been for a few days.

Photo 11 – Peach!
Photo 12 & 13 – Mountain laurel
Photo 15 – Honeysuckle
Photo 17 – Tiny woodsorrel with yellow blooms
Photo 18 & 19 – Hydrangea being used for cocoons, probably by the Olethreutes ferriferana (Hydrangea leaftier moth), which is not gorgeous, but hopefully is fed upon by some lovely native bird? More here (Heidi horticulture) and here (UMass Extension).
