holy shit, i will be so happy if indeed the WP AuthImage plugin finally works correctly for me. thank you, thank you, gudlyf. i’ve been getting approx. 30 to 100 spam comments a day. almost all for p0k3r! grrr.
update 2/8: emerging briefly from the hole that is bar review to check my email and, voila! no spam so far! hooray! i will now do a happy no-spam dance.
The captcha (AuthImage) is a nice touch. I feel your pain. My site had 25 comment s*** yesterday. They’re all for the p-word too. At least these were interesting. All 25 had different philosophical quotes. Some quotes were Calvinist and others existential. Of course, they had no context and were all politely signed with a link by a p-word search term.
I hope the captcha thing works for you. My filters are working well (20 of 25 in the past 24 hours) and it cuts the time.
What? No pictures/description of the no-spam dance?! This is a really interesting techno-culture development… I wonder if there is a similar we’re-spamming-you-to-death dance?
Good question, Joe. I don’t know if there is a similar Spamming-You-to-Death Dance, but can only imagine that it must involve certain very rude gestures, and in spirit and tone it would certainly be different from the Happy No-Spam dance.
If I weren’t so busy, I would do one of those footstep-guides for dancers, but that wouldn’t capture the full ululating yodel-icious, hip-shaking, hand-waviness of the live Happy No-Spam dance. Suffice it to say that it is a Dance of Jubilation, akin to and perhaps derived from the Not-Vulnerable-To-Microsoft-Enabled-Viruses Dance (enacted ritually by Mac & Linux users every 3-6 months when a Big New Virus shuts down corporate servers across the world).
