Some years ago the two 8-foot fluorescent tubes kitchen overhead lights started overheating, and had to be taken out. We dithered for a long time over what kinds of lights to replace, then finally elected to do track lighting. There is a decorative wood board that the LED tracks mount on, and that also conceals the larger footprint of the fluorescent tubes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week we added that overhead lighting, and also some under-counter LED lighting to improve the lighting on the counter, and layer the lights. It’s wonderful to have better kitchen lighting again! (Also a little tricky to get the photograph, without having a light glaring.) The placement of the electrical boxes (at the end of the wooden strips closest to the outside door) limited some of our selections, but I like these lights. They can be oriented in any direction, telescoped in or out for spotlight or broadlighting, and the color temperature can be shifted significantly from “cool” blue to “warm” yellow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
