Some of the old brick was spalling, so we had the chimney rebuilt, with an increased height to improve drafting from the fireplace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spalling was likely also responsible for some seeping that happened along the edge of the chimney. There was a little minor staining & flaking on some of the ceiling plaster, above the coat closet & in the living room, which we separately repaired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019\/07\/09 Tu – Chris Domian (domianmasonry@gmail.com) @ Domian Masonry<\/a> (413-687-2866) came by; said the bricks are “spalling” — flaking — observed that it had been partially rebuilt in the past (front left corner, to my eyes, maybe also a little on front right corner) … and agreed that the opening should be higher to increase airflow in chimney<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019\/09\/03 Tu – Domian Masonry starting to replace chimney — took the whole chimney down today … finished around 9\/10. Total $6750.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
