  My dog and I are going to a local antiwar rally at noon. The usual suspects will have the microphone: lefty, progressive, and/or environmental activists with impeccable credentials, no discernible public-speaking ability, and (very important) the stamina to last through interminable meetings during which nothing much happens but (usually) whoever's left at the end gets to speak at the rally. So far none of them have realized that group participation, e.g., singing, raises the energy level and gives the participants the feeling that they really can overcome.
