It's also sad commentary when NPR and their (editorial) program hosts & producers are concerned about alienating or angering any political front/persuasion. When I think about it, every time I hear snippets of this program, it generally strikes me as being less than "on point" in terms of its focus & attention to pursuit of the underlying issues. This is not surprising, since even NPR's news broadcasts often seem to miss (not mention, possibly for fear of completely demoralizing their audience?) some of the concrete underlying truths about our existence in this country & even on this planet.

Yeah. You're not wrong. It's a sad commentary when most political and news productions are "infuriating", and "bland" gets a pass for simply not being "infuriating".

My opinion of Ashbrook has never been what anyone would call high.

That show was originally developed by someone else, and then he was kicked out and it was given to Ashbrook.

Ashbrook's terrified of offending the bosses of NPR, who are terrified of offending the right wing. Bland is the best you can call him.
