Perhaps I got a little too happy with the CSS fixed attribute. I will rethink over the [Xmas/pagan/secular] holidays when I hope to have time to deal with some of the design issues.

On a 12" ibook screen, I can't see all the comments in the space with safari opened all the way up. I mention this because I've come by several times, and each time, found myself really frustrated by your CSS, and went away. I think it's may be the fixed header and footer bars which do me in. On most blogs, that scrolls off, so I can read in the full height of my browser. Your design controls the amount of space as I scroll, too.

Umm ... thanks?

I use safari [2.0.2] and OS 10.4.3 and my 15" powerbook screen is set to 1280x854. The top, right, and bottom bars take up a fixed amount of space ... so when I want more I just readjust the browser. Usually my browser is expanded to about 2/3 the width of my screen. At that level everything looks pretty normal & comparable to many other blogs. I'm guesing your screen is set much at 800x600 or 1024x768 ... Anyway I have toyed with making the top bar narrower and so I probably will the next time I tinker with the CSS / layout.

If you're getting different results and it's *not* related to screen resolution, I'd be interested from a tech perspectve to know. The main problems I've seen are (1) the CSS handling div margins & borders differently on different browsers (not showing black borders sometimes and showing them other times) and (2) handling the scrolling within and under divs incorrectly.

Interesting post. Im sad that your web "design" deprives me of nearly 2/3s of my browser (Safari) to put purple and blue boxes on screen in place of your thoughts, because, really, your thoughts are interesting, and *almost* worth looking past the site's design.
