quick responses -

What does it mean, "That political position should also be taken out of existence"? ... I assume it's facetious, because lots of good ideas (like minority rights) are unpopular when first broached.

The heart of the idea rests on the idea of the quorum. IMO it's an interesting idea, but would have to be implemented in a different system -- our democracy is broken in so many ways that a single tweak like that has at least as much chance of being bad as good.

I have an idea whose time has come but will never see the light of day. It's about reducing government. In any election where less than 50% turn out to cast their ballots, the results should automatically be null and void, and the office holder dismissed from their position. That political position should also be taken out of existence thereby permitting pursuit of more productive work, if in fact they are so capable. What do you think, folks? Is there anyone out there willing to run with this? I know! I'm just dreaming.
